Well, not exactly 'lazy', just that scripting explosive events still seem more manageable than making an AI that is fun to play with and against. The set-piece campaign is just a lazy solution to scripting AI soldiers to fight on the large multiplayer maps in a quick offline game fashion. Even if the Frostbite 2 engine is open for modding, I highly doubt there will ever be a bot AI ever for the game's said: I could raise more examples if you want, but you get the idea. Look at Red Orchestra, a mod then became game with a slapped on AI.

AI routines are not easy to code without feeling cheap and slapped on. People tried enhancing BF1942 and 2's AI, still a piece of shit if you'd ask me. It involves trying to create routes for the battles and setting the pace of the firefights and chokepoints for each map specifically. Modding AI is still by far the hardest part of any mod development, and often left to last minute until the team would try cracking it. Those PC community guys are freaking crazy.You might not be familiar with PC mod scenes. I'm sure someone on the PC will make a bot mod. Battlefront 2 had by far the best bot matches I've ever played. Not that i'd expect BF3 or any modern shooter to have them anymore, I really would appreciate if devs would do it. That is why I must boycott this game.I LOVE bot matches. How could they rip out support for all the lousy FPS gamers who had a hay-day playing Bot Matches? It would be so simple for them to put a Bot Match option in the game, but they won't for ideological reasons.

Playing Bot Matches is the only way I can enjoy a Battlefield style game, without getting murdered every 15 seconds by some Leet 15 year old. I have been gaming since I got an Atari 2600, I played Wolfenstien when it first came out on PC, I played Golden Eye on N64, and I SUCK. You don't DESERVE to buy it,' let me say, I suck at multiplayer shooters. NOW, before a bunch of people start to flame about, 'Battlefield 3 doesn't need Bot Matches. Unfortunately Giantbomb doesn't seem to have a page called 'bot match'. PLEASE help me find a list of games that feature maps with Bot Matches similar to Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, and Battlefield 2. I just discovered there will be no Bot Matches in Battlefield 3.
